My name is Abbey and I am the founder of QuickWits Border Collies. I've been an animal lover since before I could even talk. Dogs and horses were always at the peak of my interest though. Starting with Babe, I fell in love with Border Collies and my parents got a puppy from a farm when I was only 4 years old. Not knowing how much work a Border Collie puppy would be, we had to find her a new home - but my love for the breed stayed. It wasn't until I graduated high school and moved out on my own that I was able to get another Border.
Along the way, I had a few who helped developed my love for training dogs though. With Punk, I jumped into the world of disc dog and have dabbled in Flyball with Mercy and Vera, but never did compete. Once my kids get a little older, I hope to dabble in agility and herding with my dogs also.
Currently, our household consists of myself, my husband, our two boys and the dogs. I have hopes of purchasing a hobby farm sooner rather than later though, which will bring a variety of other animals with it.
My primary goal for my breeding program is breed a versatile dog; one who can compete in any sport their owner would like to try and still manage to be a level headed pet at home. On top of that, we are strong believers in health testing. Our dogs will be tested for hips (both OFA and PennHip), shoulders, elbows and the genetic tests that are currently available at the time. It can be devastating for someone to buy a dog and have a serious health issue arise after they have established a strong bond with their new family member. You can find out more about our health guarantee on our "Litters" page.
We have a "No Questions Asked" policy which means if for any reason you cannot keep your pup or no longer want him or her, we will take them back without asking for a reason why. We hope this encourages puppy buyers to return dogs when they feel they need to without having to worry about any judgement. I understand things come up, life happens and sometimes people just struggle to bond with a dog.
